Sigma 35mm f/1.2 Prime Coming

An account that leaks and gives credit on weibo released some news earlier today about an upcoming Sigma 35mm f/1.2 lens coming to Sony E-mount in July. This leak has been repreted by other leakers on weibo This will be one of their first lenses designed for mirrorless and there should be more to come this year.

The first lens designed for full-scale, non-reverse design will be 35mm f/1.2 FE, which may be released in July. This will also become the autofocus lens with the largest aperture in the Sony FE system. At the same time, the source also revealed that Sigma will release more native FE lenses during the year.”

I’ve been contacted about the Tamron 17-28mm f/2.8 Di III RXD FE that was recently teased and it sounds like the announcements and preorders will start this week with European pricing being 999 euros and China being 7,800 yuan so we can probably expect $899-999 in the US. This will be a great lens to complement the Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 Di III RXD FE if you purchased one.

Sony Makes Canikon Reality By Accident: The Dr. Frankenstein Canon/Nikon AF Adapter by Techart

When the Techart Sony E to Nikon Z Autofocus Adapter was announced I wondered if it would be possible to use a Canon EF to E-Mount adapter in conjunction with the Techart… It turns out you can! It’s been demoed with an old discontinued Techart EF to E-Mount adapter that most of us forgot about because it didn’t work well, but there is more good news you can use the excellent Sigma MC-11 according to Richard Wong!

It’s unlikely any company involved intended for this to work, but thanks to Sony’s open mount Canon and Nikon are talking after all these years. Of course, there will be issues and this might cause issues with your hardware so try at your own risk, but maybe tech art will make another E to EF mount adapter in the future designed with this ability in mind. This development makes the Nikon Z mount the most adaptable mount on the market for the time being.
