New Lensbaby Composer Pro II with Double Glass II Optic

Draw more attention to your subject with a circular spot of focus surrounded by a beautifully blurred background by using the Lensbaby Composer Pro II with Double Glass II Optic, available here with a Sony E mount. This updated tool is completely compatible with the established Optic Swap System and can use any of the numerous optics available. This version improves upon the original Pro model by featuring a metal body as well as an improved tilt function that ranges from 0-15° in any direction.

Bundled with it is the Double Glass II Optic, a 50mm optic with a 12-blade diaphragm that creates a “sweet spot” of focus when tilted that can be manipulated in position by tilting the Composer and manipulated in size by manually changing the aperture from f/2.5 to 22. Further expand the image’s creative possibilities with nine specialty magnetic disks, featuring apertures in shapes such as the five-pointed star or heart, that render out-of-focus points of light with the same shape as the aperture. The optic is compatible with all of Lensbaby’s current and legacy Optic Swap lens bodies and macro accessories.

  • Composer Pro II features an upgraded metal body with charcoal gray accents and an improved tilt control from 0-15° in any direction.
  • Compatible with Lensbaby Optic Swap System.
  • The Double Glass II Optic creates a “sweet spot” of focus surrounded by an impressionistic blend of blur and bokeh.
  • Aperture range from f/2.5 to 22.
  • Lens construction features two multi-coated glass elements in 1 group.
  • Nine specialty drop-in magnetic aperture disks designed by visual artists in the Lensbaby community.
  • Internal 12-blade aperture diaphragm for smooth out-of-focus elements.

Laowa will release the LAOWA Argus 28mm f/1.2 FF for Canon RF, Sony E, Nikon Z, L mount. The lens is made up of 13 elements in 7 groups with 13 aperture blades and a close focus distance of 500m with a max magnification of 0.073x in a 562g package.

“LAOWA Argus 28mm F1.2 FF” was exhibited as a reference. Large-diameter single focal length lens for full-frame format. Available for Canon RF, Sony E, Nikon Z, L mount. Release date and price are undecided.

The lens construction is 13 elements in 7 groups. The number of aperture blades is 13. The shortest shooting distance is 500mm. The maximum shooting magnification is 0.073x. Mass is about 562g. Supports click ON/OFF switching of the aperture ring.

Kam Lan showed off the Kam Lan KL 70mm f/1.1 at CP+ 2023 for Canon EF-M, Sony E, Nikon Z, and Fujifilm X mounts. Kam Lan also has a unique built-in lens hood for this lens that you can see in the pictures above.

A single focal lens for APS-C “KL 70mm F1.1” was on display for reference. The lineup includes Canon EF-M, Sony E, Nikon Z, and Fujifilm X mounts.

There is a member that blocks the top and bottom of the front of the lens, but this plays the role of a hood and does not affect shooting. By the way, the hood is also prepared separately. The lens itself feels solid.

Sony at CP+ 2023: Sony a7RV, Sony FE 50mm F1.4 GM, FE 20-70mm F4 G, FE 600mm F4 GM OSS, and Retinal Projection Camera Kit For Low-Vision Users

CP+ 2023 has started, and DC.Watch has coverage on the floor. The fascinating Sony retinal projection camera kit for low-vision users we covered earlier today was on the showroom floor, and the first-hand account of how it works is very interesting. The low-vision viewfinder for the Sony DSC-HX99 projects the image onto the user’s retina, and the user reported that he could see floaters in his eye like dust on the image sensor. For those unaware, as the eye breaks down with age, material accumulates in the eye called floaters, and they can be seen at various times.

I wish Sony would have made this system even more helpful by making it compatible with many cameras and camera systems because I do know quite a few low-vision photographers that would love to use Sony’s new retinal projection camera kit. Their current workaround is to use the rear LCD of a camera with an adapter that focuses the large LCD into an eye piece that is easier for low-vision users to compose with.

Sony also had the new Sony FE 50mm F1.4 GM, FE 20-70mm F4 G, and FE 600mm F4 GM OSS there to test and handle with their eye autofocus exhibit that allowed Sony to easily show off their eye AF system on the Sony a7RV.
