Cinema5D Interviewed Sony Senior Manager Yutaka Iwatsuki who is responsible for product planning and they flat out asked them for us… Where is the Sony a7SIII? Of course, he doesn’t give an answer beyond we want to get it right. Below you can see the key points covered:
- Sony wants to get the a7SIII right
- They are responding to what their customers want and not what the competition is doing
- Wouldn’t give a firm answer about 8k on the a7SIII
- Still a lot of things to do for full frame so they do not have a plan for medium format
- Also, APS-C has things to do
- Can’t comment on future products
- Video and cinematography are very important to Sony Cameras
It’s also interesting that Sony is making a big effort to mention APS-C every time they mention full frame. Maybe we will see a serious APS-C camera from them soon along with some glass. They really should have announced it at Photokina though.
