Godox AD600 Pro Leaked

Godox has become very popular this year when they added support for Fujifilm cameras. They have been around for a while, but many gave their flashes a second look and liked what they saw especially for the price in 2017. They make some of the best flashes for the price and will be releasing an update to the AD600 very soon. DIYPhotography grabbed some screenshots of the Godox site earlier today as the Godox AD600 Pro page went live and was later pulled, which you can see here.

You can see the major changes between the AD600 and AD600 Pro above, which seem to be largely tied to flash recycle time and quality. The only way in which the AD600 Pro is inferior to the AD600 is that it can only fire 360 full powered flashes, while the old AD600 could fire 500. The 38W modeling light and .9s recycle time along with stable color temperature mode are all welcome improvements, with USB-C being great if you have already upgraded.

The new AD600 Pro can be found on Adorama (currently on their front page) under the Flashpoint name as the Flashpoint XPLOR 600PRO TTL, which is $150 more than the XPLOR 600 TTL. As always you can mix and match your Godox gear with Flashpoint or just wait for the Godox AD600 Pro to start shipping from Amazon or B&H Photo in the near future.

Voigtlander Nokton Classic 35mm f/1.4 Lens for Sony E-Mount Listed at B&H Photo

B&H Photo listed the Voigtlander Nokton Classic 35mm f/1.4 Lens for Sony E-Mount today and if the price is right I will definitely be picking one of these up. These lenses were great fun on Leica M cameras and had lots of character, but they were most popular on the Leica M8 where they provided a close to 50mm equivalent focal length and utilized the center of the lens for maximum sharpness. Of course, the Leica M8 was one of the few large format APS-H cameras made so the crop was only 1.33× so there was a lot of interesting lens choices made for that camera. This lens will be great for the a7RIII and a6300/a6500/a6700.

How The Sony a9 is Made

Photo gear news gets an interesting look inside Sony’s a9 and Zeiss factory. The modular nature of Sony’s assembly lines that allows for the scaling up or down of production is kind of interesting and it makes me wonder how quickly they can run these lines since they run 24/7. Some issues in this line system probably caused the early overheating problems with the Sony a9, because the camera that I had for a few months never overheated once no matter how hard I pushed it and even though I wanted to keep it the a9 just wasn’t right for me. I still have files left to edit today from my time with it, because of how much it caused me to overshoot.

SonyAddict Celebrities 2017 and Looks Forward to 2018

2017 was a great year across the Addict sites thanks to readers and tipsters with FujiAddict leading the way. We doubled in size this year and hope to double in size again in 2018 with your help, so keep liking and sharing. Blogging about photography and shooting with the photographers that I have met along the way has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my professional life and I hope to do a lot more of it in 2018.

The community that we built on Facebook in 2017 is a great asset full of helpful members and great photos from just about every camera type you can think of thanks to our close partnership with Nikonrumors/Photorumors/Leicarumors/Pentaxrumors that will continue paying dividends going forward. Once again the Fujifilm GFX Owners group is by far our largest Addict group, with a variety of working professionals actively posting in it daily and I can’t thank them enough. Our communities have remained very professional and cordial since it was founded with members willing to help photographers of all skill levels become better at the craft of photography.

Of course, SonyAddict is growing nicely too, but more so towards the end of 2017, due to the release of the innovative Sony a9 and very desirable Sony a7RIII. It’s hard to say how these two cameras will affect Fujifilms momentum going forward, especially since Fujifilm has the X-H1 and X-T3 on the horizon, but both companies deserve a lot of respect this year. Similarly, 43Addict had a lot of spikes in interest with so many competent compact cameras being released, but the Panasonic GH5 by far was the big winner in 2017 for m43. As of right now, m43 seems to have a very loyal following, but there aren’t many photographers switching to them.

There truly never has been a better time to be in photography and the addict sites represent the companies that are pushing photography technologically forward. I believe true photographers need to amend the old saying that “The best camera is the camera you have with you” to “I should try to have the best camera with me that I can at all times.” I’m pretty sure this would have been the saying in the past if they had access to the cameras that we have today because there are so many great compact and light options. I can’t wait to see what 2018 brings and be sure to follow us on FacebookTwitterInstagramYoutube and join our group’s bellow.

Sony Sunday Savings New Year’s Eve Edition

This is your last chance to save in 2017, but Sony brings their sales back pretty regularly so there will be more opportunities to save in 2018. 2017 definitely ended on a high note for Sony with the release of the Sony a7RIII, because it is a very well rounded camera that can do just about everything with incredible resolution. I hope Sony has some big surprises in store for us in 2018 because the competition isn’t sitting still and Sony has a lot of ground to make up against Canon if it want’s to be #1 in the camera market. Like many I do not think Sony becoming #1 is a matter of if, but when and when it happens who will be trying to replace Sony because I doubt Canon/Nikon will be in the running by that time. Thanks for reading and I hope you all have a good New Year.

New Samyang Lens Coming Soon…

Samyang has been on a bit of a roll with FE lenses lately and their latest newsletter indicates they have another lens coming soon. Maybe they will release one of their classic lens designs as an FE AF lens or this could be something completely new.
