NiSi announced a new 150mm Filter Holder Kit for Sony FE 14mm f/1.8 GM that can be ordered directly from NiSi, but it is back-ordered at this time. It should be available on Amazon and from B&H Photo soon.

The NiSi S6 150mm Filter Holder Kit for Sony FE 14mm f/1.8 GM is designed for landscape photographers who wish to combine an ultra-wide-angle lens with a filter system supporting multiple filters. The S6 allows the use of an integrated CPL and two 150mm wide filters with 360 degrees of rotation for the CPL. The 150mm Filter Holder Kit with Pro CPL has no vignetting and allows full use of this ultra wide angle lens.

The Sony α1 sports an effective 50-megapixel high-resolution sensor for a blackout-free 30fps ultra-high speed continuous shooting to establish a new standard. Its real-time “eye auto-focus” system responds to the eyes of birds in addition to the eyes of human beings and animals and its practicality and stability in continuous shooting are especially noted. Considering its high levels of functions leads to high evaluations of “giving joys of photography to capture the subjects ever dreamed of ” because the camera is one and only existence. Its movie function can record approx. 30 minutes of 8K/30p movie.

In addition, the camera makes possible the flash sync for its electronic shutter and at the same time raises the flash sync speed for its mechanical shutter and thus the camera is welcomed as the “ultimate all-round camera” to set the new standards of professional-use cameras. Though it is the flagship of Sony’s 35mm format mirrorless cameras, the camera dimensions are as small as previous α cameras and may be used conveniently along with previous models. Sony FX9 Firmware Update 2.10 Released

Sony released a firmware update for the Sony FX9, which you can download here

Solid State Memory Camcorder  “PXW-FX9”, “PXW-FX9K“ and Extension Unit for FX9 camera “XDCA-FX9“.

[Applicable system software version]
Ver.2.01 or earlier
(Please visit the download page to check the system software version installed on your product.)
After updating, the system software version will be “Ver.2.10”.

[Installation]
The installation/upgrading procedure manual is included in the zipped download file with main firmware module.

– 3840×2160 RAW output support up to 120fps

Major Functions Updated in Version 2.1
3840×2160 RAW output support

Support for 3840×2160 has been added to RAW Output Format for the RAW output function that is enabled when an XDCA-FX9 (option) is attached to the camcorder.

This can be selected when Imager Scan Mode is set to S35 4K and Codec is set to RAW. Also, when RAW Output Format is set to 3840×2160, Slow & Quick Motion can be enabled with the frame rate set to 100P or 120P.

White Balance adjustment improvement

The White Balance adjustment in sunlight has been made easier, and can also be adjusted to a more natural color.

RhinoCam Vertex Fully Utilizes Medium Format Glass on Full Frame

I have always been a fan of Medium format and I am very happy that the price of it has come down in recent years, but if you have medium format film glass laying around you might want to try a RhinoCam Vertex from Fotodiox. It works by rotating the sensor around the image circle of the lens 4 times and then you stitch them together after the fact. This will not work well with variable light, movement, and swirly bokeh. If you want one they are available from B&H Photo.
