Sony A1 Beats Nikon Z9 PDR Throughout Native ISO Range

The Nikon Z9 has sparked a lot of interest with its high performance and attractive price point, but it looks like the Sony A1 will remain the full-frame mirrorless performance king for a little longer. Photons to Photos published its PDR results, which you can view here, and the Sony A1 continues to dominate beating the Nikon Z9 from base ISO too high ISO. Nikon and Canon are getting closer to catching Sony, but they just miss the mark in most respects this generation.

Samyang 135mm f/1.8 Teaser

Samyang posted a teaser trailer for 2022 with the upcoming Samyang 135mm f/1.8 prominently but covertly featured. The script on the lens can only be made out in the first few frames, but it very clearly says 135mm f/1.8 FE. As the camera zooms out you can see it is right next to the Samyang 24-70mm f/2.8 zoom which should give you an idea of the upcoming lenses size, which you can see below.

WD My Passport Wireless SSD Savings

I reviewed the WD My Passport Wireless SSD in 2018 for FujiAddict and was really impressed with the portable backup solution from WD that also doubles as a decent external SSD. Since then my 1TB model has worked flawlessly and it is great for backing up SD media when I am out in the everglades shooting time-lapses and/or star trails. If you’re interested in picking one up yourself it looks like B&H Photo is closing out the 2TB models with $400 in savings. The price has never been better and with all the great features of the WD My Passport Wireless SSD, they shouldn’t last long.

Photons to Photos: Sony a7IV vs a7III

Photons to Photos published its Sony a7IV results today and it should come as no surprise that the camera falls a little behind the Sony a7III at high ISO due to the increased pixel count, but only slightly. The Sony a7IV does manage to outperform the Sony a7III at low ISO though. You can see and manipulate the results here for yourself.
