Godox Lux Junior Retro

The Godox Lux Junior Retro is a neat retro design that would match a camera like the Sony a7C well. You can currently get one at B&H Photo.

Compatible with FUJIFILM, Canon, Nikon, Olympus, and Sony cameras, the Lux Junior Retro Camera Flash from Godox is a diminutive 2.9 x 2 x 2.8″ light source with basic features and is small enough to have it regularly mounted on your camera.

Called a “retro” flash, the unit has a simple dial that correlates ISO with apertures, power levels, and shooting distances. For example, if you want to shoot at 5′ with an ISO of 400, the dial lines up f/4 and 1/8 power. The flash has an Auto Mode, too, that defaults to f/2.8 at ISO 100.

Control features include an Optical Mode that offers S1 and S2 settings. In S1 the flash will fire in response to another manual or TTL flash, while in S2 the Retro Flash will respond similarly, but ignore the initial flash from cameras with a pre-flash function. The Junior Retro Camera Flash runs on two separately purchased AAA batteries and comes with a triggering cable and a storage bag.

DXO: Sigma 90mm F2.8 DG DN | Contemporary Reviewed

Sigma 90mm f/2.8 DG DN | Contemporary:
B&H Photo / Amazon / Adorama

DXO published its full Sigma 90mm F2.8 DG DN | Contemporary review and it should come as no surprise that the lens performs quite well especially when taking price, size, and weight into consideration. You can read the full review here or see the DXO score and excerpts below:

Not everyone wants large and heavy high-speed lenses, so there’s clearly an opportunity for compact high-quality primes… no surprise to see Sigma offering something a little different with the Sigma 90 mm F2.8 DG DN | Contemporary lens. Despite some slight shortcomings, many of which can be overcome with software correction, image quality is very good overall. What’s more, if portraiture is your thing, thanks to its small size, great build, and relatively affordable pricing, the Sigma 90 mm F2.8 DG DN | Contemporary looks like a super-compelling option.
