The Viltrox AF 35mm F1.7 APS-C lens, available in XF, E, and Z mounts, combines a versatile 52mm-equivalent focal length with a large F1.7 aperture. Its compact 170g design ensures easy portability, making it ideal for street, portrait, and everyday photography. The lens packs the beautiful bokeh, precise autofocus and high image quality into a compact design with durable quality and stylish appearance. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced photographer, the AF 35mm F1.7 is your go-to companion for capturing stunning moments.

About Full-frame and APS-C Sensors
Full-frame and APS-C sensors are two common types in cameras, differing in size and performance. A full-frame sensor matches the size of 35mm film, offering better low-light performance and a wider field of view, making it ideal for professionals. APS-C sensors, on the other hand, are smaller and provide a cropped field of view with a 1.5x crop factor, making them lightweight, cost-effective, and perfect for enthusiasts. The Viltrox AF 35mm F1.7 is designed specifically for APS-C cameras, delivering exceptional image quality and performance.

Viltrox AF 35mm F1.7 is designed for Fujifilm XF, Sony E, and Nikon Z mounts, offering outstanding optical performance with 9 elements in 8 groups. With a minimum focusing distance of 0.33m, it delivers sharp, detailed close-ups and stunning bokeh. The silent STM motor ensures smooth and accurate autofocus, making it perfect for portraits, street photography, still life, and video. Compact and weighing just 170g, this lens is the ideal choice for photographers who value portability and creativity.

Advantages of the Viltrox AF 35mm F1.7  over similar lenses:
01 Better value for money—The Viltrox AF 35mm F1.7 combines a wide F1.7 aperture and precise autofocus at a highly competitive price, delivering exceptional performance without breaking the bank.

02 Superior chromatic aberration control—Equipped with advanced optical elements, the lens effectively minimizes chromatic aberration, even at wider apertures, ensuring sharper and more vivid images.

03 Lighter and more portable—Weighing just 170g and compact enough to fit in your pocket, the AF 35mm F1.7 is lighter than many competitors, making it perfect for photographers on the go.

04 Better bokeh performance—The F1.7 aperture produces creamy, dreamy background blur, allowing subjects to stand out while maintaining excellent image sharpness in portraits and still-life photography.

DCW: Viltrox AF 135mm f/1.8 LAB FE Review – Excellent Value

Viltrox AF 135mm f/1.8 LAB FE:
B&H Photo / Amazon

The Viltrox AF 135mm f/1.8 LAB FE is an interesting and unique lens at a great price point that won’t let you down. Digital Camera World just published its full review which you can read in full here or check out the excerpt below:

As far as I’m concerned, the Viltrox AF 135mm F1.8 LAB looks and feels a really high-quality lens… All in all, I find that handling is exemplary. Most importantly, image quality is beautiful, combining excellent sharpness and clarity with super-smooth bokeh. All things considered, this Viltrox lens is excellent value for money at the price, especially compared with own-brand competitors from Nikon and Sony.

Pros

  • Impressive build and image quality
  • Customizable function buttons
  • Click/de-click aperture ring
  • Color LCD info display
  • You’re after a highly capable lens that’s ideal for head & shoulders portraiture, still life and more besides, but don’t want to pay over the odds.
  • You fancy a high-tech lens that features dual control rings, two function buttons and even a color LCD info screen.

Cons

  • Typically chunky and heavy
  • Limited range of mount options
  • No aperture ring locking switch
  • You’d rather have the versatility of a zoom lens and don’t mind a slower f/2.8 aperture rating, in which case a 70-200mm f/2.8 ‘trinity’ telephoto zoom would be more ideal.
  • You’d prefer a macro lens for extreme close-ups. If so, you’d be better off with a 1.0x/1:1 100mm (or thereabouts) f/2.8 macro lens, which can also work well for portraiture.
