Cinima5D: Sigma Factory Tour With Kazuto Yamaki-san

Sigma is moving into Sony E-Mount in a big way and Cinima5D got a unique look inside their factory with Sigma’s CEO Kazuto Yamaki. It’s interesting to note that they still use a lot of older equipment because it’s more efficient and helps train new employees because it’s far too easy to get wrapped up in the technological side of lens production. Being too far removed from production can eventually become a problem and it’s good to see that Sigma is embracing old and new ways going forward. It certainly lends itself to the definition of Sigma, peoples knowledge or wisdom, because he is ensuring skills continue to be passed down instead of lost.

They also seem to have a very nice work environment unlike other facilities, which is typical in Japanese production and helps add to their end product quality. Their use of blue is interesting too and they could pay homage to their founder by incorporating it into their lenses somewhere in the future.

BREAKING NEWS: Sony’s NEW APS-C System Revealed Starting With The Sony a7000

Just days after receiving details about Sony developing a future APS-C camera we receive our first look at the system to come. Sony is going interchangeable sensor with a catch. The body will now be the Sony ax000 series with modular caring the naming convention we are all familiar with. Sony believes that LCD and EVF technology has become good enough for this kind of commitment and they are working on driving down the price of APS-C while competitors continue to raise theirs. The Sony ax000 is expected to retail for $401.

The first modular will, of course, be the Sony a7000 and it will redefine APS-C cameras as we know them today. These modules will be similar to the Sony a7 line with a standard/High Resolution and Low Light edition being released. The first modular pictured above and it will retail for $401 also, which is an incredible value. You can read the specs for the three modules below.

Luke Massey Swapped The Canon EOS 1D X Mark II For The Sony a9

Lots of Canon photographers are leaving for Sony cameras and I am not surprised. The Sony a9 is an impressive camera and offers a unique shooting experience that you simply can’t get with a Canon or Nikon camera today. Canon/Nikon’s first generation professional mirrorless cameras will be competitive, but I highly doubt it and their native mirrorless glass selection will be very limited, while Sony continues rounding theirs out with lenses like the Sony FE 400mm f/2.8 GM OSS.
