Samyang AF lenses haven’t been around long and initially, they had some AF issues, but Samyang is constantly improving these lenses via a firmware update. If you don’t have a lot of money to spend building out your glass collection or if you’re just getting started in photography it might be best to start with less expensive lenses like Samyang’s before you decide if it’s worth investing in more expensive glass.
The Techart Pro Leica M adapter is on sale today only at B&H Photo. It’s a great adapter if you own any M glass and I have owned one since launch that has been trouble free for me.
DeviceSpecifications has some documents for a new rumored Sony sensor for smartphones. It is a 1/8-inch 38MP sensor which could lead to substantial improvements in smartphone photography. The new sensor will have some interesting features beyond resolution:
Quad Pixel Phase Detect AF (QP2DAF)
Ambient Light Sensor (ALS)
24fps speed at full resolution
Dual sensor synchronization
Dual Bayer and White HDR coding pixel array
This could be one of many first steps towards an 8k future that’s coming sooner rather than later.
Anamorphic lenses have a unique look to them that cannot be matched and several of SLR Magic’s Anamorphot adapters are on sale at B&H Photo right now. Anamorphic lenses can also be great for artistic photography if you like their flare/bokeh characteristics.
My friend Depot MSA is experimenting with Anamorphic photography right now and he loves it. You can see one of his photos below or check out his 500px. I personally like the style and it looks great on an iPhone screen.
B&H Photo has the Sigma 85mm f/1.4 DG HSM Art on sale today only in their dealzone. This is the most that a native E-mount Sigma lens has been discounted so far so don’t miss out.
