Leica Rumors found some additional details about the Techart LM-EA9 AF adapter that we first reported here.

  • The LM-EA9 has improved, faster, and quieter AF
  • The new version uses four stepper motors instead of one motor in the previous version
  • Smaller size – the new model is round without the bump present in the previous version
  • Stronger and durable design and can be used with larger/heavier lenses
  • No price or release date is available yet

PB: Sony E 11mm f/1.8 Review

Sony recently released 3 compact APS-C lenses and the Sony E 11mm f/1.8 is probably the most interesting. Photography Blog posted its full review which you can read here or you can check out the excerpt below:

It’s more versatile than a slower or narrower optic, ideal for both handheld vlogging to camera where you want to throw out the background and for more traditional landscape and architecture stills photography where you want to stop down the aperture.

The build quality is acceptably good, including full weather-sealing… it doesn’t have any OIS…The E 11mm F1.8 and ZVE10 did prove to be a great match when it came to auto-focusing… fast, reliable and virtually silent…

Optically, the centre sharpness was very high throughout all of the aperture range, even wide-open at F1.8. Edge sharpness doesn’t quite match the center, though, requiring you to stop down to F2.8 to get the best results.

Chromatic aberrations are almost completely absent, vignetting isn’t too obvious, and flare is present but well controlled… some very obvious barrel distortion in the RAW files, which is automatically corrected in-camera for the JPEG files…

…the new E 11mm F1.8 is an excellent, affordable ultra-wide-angle addition to the Sony APS-C sensor mirrorless camera system that offers a lot of bang for your buck…

Latest BCN Data From Japan

Sony has had a steady interchangeable lens camera sale decline this year with things only just starting to look up this month, while compact cameras have been growing over time. I am curious how much of this is due to supply chain issues, but we don’t get a lot of incite into sales since BCN rankings are only based on approximately 40% of the Japanese retailer sales.

Anhui China, 7 July 2022 – Venus Optics, the camera lens manufacturer that has been endeavoring to invent high-quality lenses at an affordable price, is thrilled to release an ultra-compact Zoom Lens for Full Frame cameras – Laowa 12-24mm f/5.6 Zoom. This tiny lens offers an AOV from an ultra-wide 121.9° to an easier-to-control 84° with a fixed aperture. The 5.9”/15cm closest focusing distance allows users to explore more creative shots or even macro-like photos. Laowa’s classical 5-bladed aperture design for stunning 10-point Sunstar also packed in this lens. A 77mm filter can be used directly with the adaptor ring (come along with the lens). Wide-angle zoom in a compact body
With an 84° to 121.9° zoom range, the lens provides greater flexibility to photographers in framing. Users could adjust the focal length easily with a twist. The lens is relatively compact and light in its class. It is measured to be ⌀69.4x84mm(⌀2.73×3.30”) with a lightweight 497g(1.09lbs). A great option for photographers who wants to pack lightweight.
