Sony held its 2023 Business Segment meeting on May 24, 2023, and you can read about the whole meeting here or view the most significant portion of the meeting above. It appears Sony is making some big moves to capture even more of the image sensor industry. Sony projects that they plan to capture 85% of the automotive visions sensing market which is a rapidly emerging market since cars only just recently started to include quality camera modules for activities like self-driving and security.

Irix informs about two, new, full-frame lenses for the Sony E mount
Both of them are redesigned versions of older constructions for DSLR cameras that have already won the recognition of many professionals and photography enthusiasts. First of all, because of its unique features, excellent workmanship, and image quality. The latest versions, designed for Sony mirrorless cameras, are even more improved design, with the newly added aperture ring and lens housing.
Both lenses are characterized by a solid construction (Dragonfly finish version). The body is made of magnesium aluminum alloy combined with a high-quality composite. This ensures durability and resistance to weather conditions with relatively low weight. Dust and moisture resistance mean the possibility of confidently using those lenses outdoors, even in harsh weather conditions.
Also, both of the lenses are equipped with the “Click / Declick” switch – a feature now available on Irix photographic lenses for the Sony system. It allows one to choose between gradual and smooth iris ring operations.
The first new lens is Irix 15mm f/2.4 – a great tool for landscape photographers who want to experiment with perspective and create unique shots. What’s more, this lens is also great for astrophotography, or architecture photographers.

Capture high-resolution, high-speed 5K drone video with the Ember S5K Camera from FREEFLY. The compact S35 camera is designed for continuous high-speed recording and is small enough to mount as a drone payload. The Gpixel S35 sensor captures up to 5K resolution at 600 fps or up to 4K800 to capture clear high-speed, slow-motion video. It features a Sony E mount for use with a variety of stock lenses, and it has a global shutter.
The camera captures 10-bit ProRes format video onto the internal 4TB NVMe SSD, which can capture up to 36 minutes of video in 5K600 mode and up to 45 minutes of video in 4K800 mode, and the storage is upgradeable. You can control the camera via Wi-Fi via an iOS app workflow, and you can also utilize the USB-C and Ethernet ports. There is also a 6-pin GPIO port to remotely control start/stop/sync functions. The HDMI output allows you to preview your image using a 1080p monitor.
Power the camera using a separately available power source using the included 4-pin Microfit to D-Tap cable with a power plate or battery. Numerous accessories can be added such as handles, cheese plates, and battery mounts using the 1/4″-20 and M3 threads around the camera body.
