There is a Sony a7V preorder listing with vhdigital that has an interesting image associated with it that is likely fake. The Specs are the Sony a7IV specs and the listing is here, but I highly advise against anyone ordering this whether you believe the retailer to be legitimate or not.

PT: Sony Interview – Sony RX1R Mark III, Fujifilm X100VI, a7V, a7SIII, a9III, The Olympics, Global Shutter, and More

French photography site Phototrend published its interview with Fabrice Abuaf from Sony at the Salon de la Photo 2024 show which you can read in French here and check out a translated summary of it below:

  • Sony remains a dynamic company.
  • There are no bad years as long as Sony is pursuing its goals of developing other segments.
  • Sony remains the leader in France and Europe in the full-frame hybrid market and has positive momentum.
  • The Sony a7IV has a lot of competition now, but even though it is not topping sales charts it is still their best-selling camera.
  • The Sony a9III is a groundbreaking camera with global shutter that continues Sony’s rich history of introducing technology first like the BSI sensor in 2015, the first stacked sensor in 2017, and the first AI chip in the a7RV in 2022.
  • Sony did well at the 2024 Olympics with over 1,000 pieces of equipment going out on loan to shoot the event on Sony a1 and Sony a9III cameras.
  • Products arrive when they arrive is all Sony is willing to say about the Sony a7V.
  • There is still a place for the Sony a7SIII even with the FX3 and FX30 thanks to its viewfinder and exceptional 12MP low-light performance.
  • The A7S III, FX3, and  ZV-E1 offer similar image quality because they are based on the same technology, but the use case varies
  • Sony knows there is demand for lenses like the RF 100-300mm f/2.8 L IS USM and Nikkor 120-300mm f/2.8 E FM ED SR VR, but believes the Sony 300mm f/2.8 is a good option because it is light and has other advantages and buyers seem to agree.
  • Sony acknowledges the strong demand for cameras like the Fujifilm X100VI and even the Leica Q3, but they have nothing to share about a Sony RX1R Mark II successor at this time even though the camera is 10 years old now.
  • Sony still views APS-C cameras as relevant but they are mainly pushing technology down to APS-C from the Full Frame lineup.
  • Sony doesn’t have any plans to share about faster f/1.2 lenses or f/2 zooms at this time.

Sony just released a new Sony BC-ZD1 Dual-Battery Charger and Sony DC-C1 DC Coupler that allows you to charge NP-FZ100 batteries from PD power banks.

Sony BC-ZD1 Overview
The BC-ZD1 Dual-Battery Charger for NP-FZ100 Batteries from Sony is an ideal and efficient way to charge two high-capacity NP-FZ100 batteries simultaneously, assuring you have ample power for use at events or in applications that require continuous operation over extended periods of time. The BC-ZD1 can fully charge two battery packs in 155 minutes using a separately available USB-C charger.

  • Requires a separately available USB PD compatible power supply that can provide 30W or higher output, with a USB-C cable that can support 3A or higher current.

Sony DC-C1 Overview
The DC-C1 DC Coupler from Sony provides continuous power to compatible cameras via USB PD, allowing for extended hours of operation. The coupler has a built-in 5.2′ cable and NP-FW50 type coupler. It also includes a plug-in adapter plate to fit the battery slot of cameras that use NP-FZ100 batteries.

To prevent accidental disconnection, a separately available USB-C connector with a locking screw can be used, or the cable can be supported through the anchor loop.

  • Requires a separately available USB PD compatible power supply that can provide 65W or higher output, with a USB-C cable that can support 5A or higher current.
