SAN DIEGO, Sept. 9, 2016 –
Sony Electronics, a worldwide leader in digital imaging, has today introduced their first POV cameras to feature the innovative Balanced Optical SteadyShot (B.O.SS) image stabilization technology, the FDR-X3000R 4K1 model and HDR-AS300R Full HD model.

The flagship feature of the two new cameras – Balanced Optical SteadyShot2  – is  an advanced form of image stabilization where internally, the camera’s lens and sensor are joined and moved together to compensate for camera shake caused by excessive motion, whether shooting handheld with optional accessories or during a fast-paced sporting activity.  This is a particularly effective technology when paired with a POV action camera design as it ensures captured video footage is smooth and stable – even in 4K or high-frame-rate shooting modes.

Techart PRO Firmware v4.0

techart4

Firmware 4.0 is much quicker at focusing, but the Techart Pro adapter makes more noise than ever while focusing. From my initial testing FW4 seems like a pretty substantial improvement in focusing performance.

Techart PRO Firmware v4.0
1. Improve the focusing speed and accuracy
2. Improve the stability of the adapter

You can find the instructions at

John Clark’s Sony DXO List

cc809f2133204c12a816568c1b3f0e39

Once again John Clark has compiled another useful list of Sony lenses to share with us. This time his list is of all the published DXO results sorted by score with the priority being the a7RII. The list can be a little cluttered to read, but it’s clearer than digging through DXO’s side if you’re looking at score/rank/sharpness results and are a fan of DXO.

The Sony Photokina 2016 Website is Live

photokina2016
You can already visit Sony’s Virtual Online Photokina 2016 booth online if you want to get a sneak peak of what’s to come. I can’t wait till they start constructing these booths in Virtual Worlds for the rest of us to visit, maybe next Photokina. Sony also published a PDF of all of their presenters and it is a packed schedule across two stages. I really can’t imagine anyone seeing it all, but that’s kind of the point. I hope Sony manages to pull off some surprises, but ill be watching photorumors closely in the meantime for leaks.

Sony SEL50F18F FW02 Tested and Working

50mmf1802fw

Sony just released firmware 02 for the 50mm f/1.8 SEL50F18F in Japan. I tested the updater on my lens and it works fine on OS X. The update to 02 noticeably improves autofocus performance. You can currently download it from Japan, but it should be available in America soon.
