Sony a99 Mark II vs a7R II Carified

Cinema 5D interviewed the product manager of Alpha about the difference between the Sony a99 Mark II and Sony a7R II. From the interview the a99 Mark II performs better for photography and should have the same level of video performance as the a7R II. For Photos A-mount lenses are the fastest, but autofocus can only be use used in P mode when doing video with A-mount lenses at this time and there is S-Log 2 and S-Log 3. The Sony a99 Mark II is also better than the Sony a7S II for video when doing Super-35, but not when filming full frame. If you’re new to Sony the a99 Mark II might be a good starting point.

Zeiss Loxia 85mm f/2.4 Sonnar FE From Photokina

Some new images of the Sony Zeiss Loxia 85mm f/2.4 from Photokina courtesy of B&H Photo. I’d really like to see how it fits in the Zeiss Loxia Bundle with 21mm, 35mm, and 50mm in the Loxia case.

Sony Doubles Down on High-End Camera Market

Sony is doubling down on the high-end photography market according to an interview with amateurphotographer, because it’s the market they see growing. I tend to agree, but I think we are going to see a shift into medium format and maybe even see things like 8×10 digital photography come to fruition as a specialty camera. You can read the full interview with Kimio Maki here.

Video of The New Sony a99 Mark II Menus and AF/Burst

Sony’s new menus look  like they are a little more logically laid out, but I still think they can do better from this short video.
