DigitalRev and Mirrorlessons Go Hands-On The Sony RX100 V and a6500

DigitalRev goes hands-on with the Sony RX100 V and a6500 with Kai. I am surprised I didn’t hear Kai on the Newsshooter heat test video since he was in the room when they tested for overheating. Kai also says there is no VF black out, which is good news. Mirrorlessons was also there and according to their talk with Sony the Sony a6500 should be able to record two 29minute 50 second 4k videos back to back.

Cinima5D Hands-On Sony RX100 V and A6500

Cinima5D is spending a lot of time focused on the new Sony RX100 V and a6500. In the video above they show off the Sony RX100 V’s seemingly complete lack of rolling shutter when filming, which is one of the big advantages of small sensor/fast processor cameras. I wonder how well it will do with a moving vehicle test and trees. You can also turn the RX100 V’s high speed shooting into a 5.5k movie, but your computer might not be able to handle playing the video.

Sony Might Have Solved Their Overheating Issue With The Sony a6500

Newsshooter and Philip Bloom shot the Sony a6500 and a6300 head to head to see which would over heat first. The Sony a6300 stopped at 12 and a half minutes, while the a6500 was able to record 29minutes 50 seconds with the tempter icon showing up about half way through recording. They were unable to run the test a second time because Sony needed the camera at the end.

Sony RX100 V Round-Up

Many sites have started their reviews of the Sony RX100 V and so far the results are very positive. It seems like the RX100 V is a step up from the previous generation in ever respect, but we will have to wait for their final verdicts.

Sony a99 Mark II Interview and Review

Lensvid just released their interview with Yann Salmon-Legagneur the general manger for product marketing in Sony Europe. The Sony a99 Mark II can shoot up to 60 images JPEG or 50 RAW at 12fps and the body is only about the size of the a77, so it’s about 18% smaller. Another surprising detail from the interview was that A-mount held about 18% of the european market as of 2010, which is pretty substantial, but I am curious why Sony didn’t offer more recent numbers. Apparently Sony is certain there is a large market waiting for this camera to arrive. Sony also verified that their Sesnor factory has been fully repaired from the earth quakes, but it will take a little more time until they are placing sensors in cameras at the same volume as before.
