Pros:

  • unique parameters,
  • very good image quality in the frame centre across the whole focal range,
  • good image quality on the edge of the APS-C sensor,
  • negligible longitudinal chromatic aberration,
  • sensible control of lateral chromatic aberration,
  • moderate distortion not only on the APS-C sensor but also on full frame,
  • low astigmatism,
  • silent and quite fast autofocus,
  • slight vignetting on the APS-C sensor,
  • negligible focus breathing.

Cons:

  • too weak image quality on the edge of the frame at the longest focal lengths,
  • distinct vignetting on full frame,
  • a bit of problems with spherical aberration,
  • performance against bright light could have been better,
  • whimsical autofocus performance,
  • low resistance on the zoom ring that makes it easy to change accidentally the focal length by just moving the lens or just under the influence of gravity.

Sony a7V, Sony 16mm f/1.8 G and Sony 400-800mm f/6.3-8.0 G Details Leaked


According to weibo Sony will announce the Sony a7V in March/April along with two lenses in February the Sony 16mm f/1.8 G and Sony 400-800mm f/6.3-8.0 G. Sony also might launch the Sony 50-105mm F2.8 G with the Sony a7V. The Sony 16mm f/1.8 G  is expected to be priced at around $1,000 while the Sony 400-800mm f/6.3-8.0 G will be a light and portable lens for wildlife.

[Sony will release two lenses in February! A7V will be released in March and April!] Sony will release many new products at the beginning of the year. Currently, there are reports that there will be two lenses to be released in February, which may be the 16mm f/1.8 G and the 400-800mm f/6.3-8.0 G. The previously rumored 50-105mm F2.8 G and the α7V body will not appear during the CP+ exhibition, and the body is more likely to be announced around March-April.

Regarding the two lenses to be released in February:

The 16mm F1.8G will have excellent optical performance and a compact body design, but the price may be around $1,000.
The 400-800mm f/6.3-8.0 G lens is mainly aimed at photographers who shoot wildlife handheld, and is lighter and more portable. –weibo
