Sigma CEO Affirms The Continued Development of E-mount Full Frame and APS-C Lenses

Sigma CEO Kazuto Yamaki reiterated Sigma’s commitment to building Full Frame and APS-C E-mount lenses for Sony cameras in an interview with Sigma Canada.

  • If we just make ok lenses consumers will pick the manufacture lenses so we have to make extraordinary lenses.
  • 14mm f/1.8 was made because making a new f/2.8 wouldn’t be exciting
  • We will make lenses in the future for those that use only Sony cameras
  • Kazuto Yamaki likes to shoot landscape photography
  • He posts his photos to his personal Facebook
  • He likes to read DPReview and the rumor sites (I wonder if he reads our sister sites Photorumors etc…)
  • Prefers Primes
  • Likes Wide Lenses

We already knew about the WW 620081 here, but the WW 17377 is new from Nokishita. Let’s hope Sony has some additional announcements soon. Preferably an R camera…

Sony a99 Mark II: Great, But Neglected

Darren Shimabuku had a lot of problems on his recent shoot, but his Sony a99 Mark II wasn’t one of them. Of all the new Sony cameras the Sony a99 Mark II is the most neglected online even though it is quite a capable camera. In many ways, it’s a better value than the Sony a9 or Sony a7RII, but it’s probably too little too late from Sony.

Sony FE 12-24mm f/4 G: Coverage

The Sony FE 12-24mm f/4 G looks like a very well rounded ultrawide zoom from the in-depth coverage at The Last Word and by other reviewers. It’s on my short list of lenses to purchase in the very near future, but I am waiting for Sony to release a new R full frame body for me. I like the Sony a9 quite a bit, but I’m not sure it’s right for me because it encourages over shooting.
