Sony’s 24mm selection is very limited and if you value a compact design the Samyang 24mm f/2.8 is unmatched at this time. The Samyang AF 24mm f/2.8 FE is $399 and can be pre-ordered at B&H Photo and Adorama. Amazon should follow soon. Of course, there is no substitute for speed and if you must have the f/1.4 Sigma 24mm it is currently available at B&H Photo / Adorama.

Sony patented a new mount design that condenses some of the lens handshake functions to reduce the mounts pint count. A normal E-mount pin count is 10-pins, but Sony’s new design is 8-pins. This could be a technology that Sony will use later in a medium format camera, but Fujifilm added pins for theirs for the ability to adapt lenses. This reduced pin count could also add flexibility going forward Since Sony could have more pins to work with if they reduce the native pin count of their lenses on a future system.
The Samyang AF 24mm f/2.8 FE is $399 and can be pre-ordered at Adorama. B&H Photo and Amazon should follow shortly.

Sony is known for having issues with capturing a night sky 100% accurately and many have jumped to conclusions about Sony solving their star eater problem so I am leary to go along with petapixel, which is citing amazingsky in their article. Petapixel trimmed down amazing sky’s article quite a bit and in some respects, they are correct that the camera isn’t eating stars like it used to, but the sky doesn’t look entirely right.
Sony’s noise correction smooths/blurs fine details and the Sony capture just isn’t as sharp as the competition in my opinion. Sony has greatly improved their noise correction algorithm over the years, but the best thing they could do for aspiring astrophotographers is offering an option to truly turn all noise correction off.
