DPReview TV: Sony RX10 IV Review

Chris thinks the Sony RX10 IV is the minivan of cameras and I couldn’t agree more. It’s certainly full of a lot of attractive options and it can get the job done with its new stacked sensor, but there are a few drawbacks to its design. Price is also a big detractor from this camera because there are cameras with better image quality in this price range, but none offer the incredible 24-600mm reach of the RX10. The Sony RX10IV is probably best for photographers that want to travel light on vacation, but don’t want to leave a lot of their professional capabilities at home. Watch the video above for a somewhat lengthy review if you want to know more.

The new Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 Di III RXD + the Sony A7RIII are a perfect fit!

Mpex-experience wrote a review loaded with photos for the new Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 Di III RXD and the work included is excellent. The Sony a7RIII is a demanding camera and if the Tamron can shine on it than it will work great on any Sony E-mount camera available today. Mpex has a lot of good things to say about the new Tamron:

Likes:

  1. Sharp
  2. Feels Professional
  3. 28mm is wide enough
  4. Great for Portraits with no risk of distortion
  5. MOD (Minimum Object Distance) of 19cm or 7.5 inches
  6. Might make him switch from Canon
  7. Silent

Dislikes:

  1. Non-mentioned

Conclusion

“I truly enjoyed the awesome versatility of the Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 Di RXD lens for Sony’s full-frame mirrorless E-mount cameras. It’s an extremely fast and sharp lens constructed for the hobbyist or professional photographer in mind. It can easily become the only lens you need for typical travel and street photography. At the same time, I wound not hesitate to take this lens on any commercial or editorial assignment as long as I have a Sony A7R III to go with it. After all, together, they are a perfect fit!”

It looks like there is a very good reason this lens is sold out for a while to come…

Sigma’s 70mm F2.8 DG Macro Art Lens Costs $570 And Ships This Month

Pre-Order Sigma’s 70mm F2.8 DG Macro Art: B&H Photo / Adorama Pre-order coming Soon: Amazon

Sigma Announces Pricing & Availability for Its 70mm F2.8 DG MACRO Art Lens

Ronkonkoma, NY – May 11, 2018 – Sigma Corporation of America, a leading still photo and cinema lens, camera, flash and accessory manufacturer, today announced that its 70mm F2.8 DG MACRO Art, the first prime macro lens to be adorned with the Art badge, will be available in Canon mount in the end of May for $569.00 USD through authorized US retailers. The Sigma mount model is expected to ship in June. The release of the Sony E-Mount version will be announced later.

The First Macro Lens in the Sigma Global Vision Art Line

Elevating the legendary Sigma 70mm F2.8 EX DG to the Art line, the brand new Sigma 70mm F2.8 DG MACRO Art prioritizes optical performance that defines the Sigma Art line, delivering stunning resolution and incredible clarity, while at the same time offering extremely smooth autofocus performance for a weightier, high-performance lens.

To achieve optimal results at every shooting distance, the lens features an extending, floating, two-group focus mechanism, which minimizes aberration at all focal lengths. In addition, the lens’ optical elements design increases resolution at close shooting distances, allowing for a razor-sharp in-focus area contrasted with a bokeh area free of color streaking.

Other feature highlights include focus-by-wire system featuring newly developed coreless DC motor for comfortable and precise focusing typically required for macro photography; compatibility of the Canon mount lens with the Canon Lens Aberration Correction function; and compatibility with Sigma Electronic Flash Macro EM-140 DG and Sigma Teleconverters.

First Look at Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 AF Speed

It’s still unclear if the new Tamron will live up to their claims about image quality fully, but at least the AF performance seems to be spot on. David Oastler does a good job of showing the AF and AF eye tracking performance. He claims that it is as good as any Sony lens currently produced.
