DCW: Tamron 18-300mm f/3.5-6.3 Di III-A VC VXD Review

Digital camera world posted its full Tamron 18-300mm f/3.5-6.3 Di III-A VC VXD review here, and they found that the lens did not have many shortcomings as you can see from the excerpt below:

Ideal for travel and walkabout photography, the Tamron 18-300mm gives an effective 16.6x zoom range of 27-450mm on Fujifilm X and Sony E mount APS-C format mirrorless cameras. That’s quite a stretch, delivering everything from fairly wide-angle coverage to super-telephoto reach at the twist of the zoom ring, without the need to carry multiple lenses and switch between them. So-called ‘superzoom’ lenses are often a compromise but the Tamron does pretty well in terms of image quality and all-round performance.

+Impressive autofocus and stabilization
+Short minimum focus distance

Cons
-Edge-sharpness could be better
-Heavy barrel distortion when uncorrected
-Color fringing at longest zoom setting

Sony a7IV Firmware 1.11 Released

Sony released firmware 1.11 for the Sony a7IV, which you can download here

ILCE-7M4 System Software (Firmware) Update Ver. 1.11 (SD card/CFexpress card)
Precautions when updating from Ver.1.01 or earlier

  • When updating from Ver.1.01 or earlier, you need to update to Ver.1.05 before proceeding with the Ver.1.11 update. Only update to Ver.1.11 after updating to Ver.1.05. If you try to update to Ver.1.11 without updating to Ver.1.05, an error will occur and you will not be able to update.
  • Follow the instructions below to check the system software version.
    Note: If the Date/Time setting screen appears when you turn on your camera, be sure to set the date and time to the correct values.

    1. On the camera, select Menu.
    2. Select Setup → Setup Option → Version.
