Sony has announce a new Sony 1/1.7 Inch ISX038 CMOS image sensor that supports 4k RAW with 21.6 stops of dynamic range. The sensor was developed for automotive applications, but it could be used in the cinema world in smartphones and action cams, which would help drive down it’s high $600 price point.
