Sony a7SIII vs ARRI ALEXA Mini LF vs Sony VENICE 6k

We have all waited a long time for the Sony a7SIII and now that it is here Indy Mogul is comparing it to cameras multiple times its price ($60,000 not including $20,000 lenses) to see how it stacks up. Below is a summary of their findings and watch the above video for more details.

  • Still some megenta shift on the Sony a7SIII using LOG
  • Probably going to be a lot of cinematographers using the a7SIII for B came footage for the VENICE 6k
  • It was easier to match the a7SIII to the VENICE 6k for color
  • Both cinima cameras had higher end glass on them for these comparisons
  • It should be fine to mix and match the a7SIII to the VENICE 6k
  • For the ISO testing they used the same glass on every channel
  • ALEXA Mini LF maxed out at 3200 ISO which is good qualiity
  • VENICE 6k maxed out at 10,000 ISO and it looks usable here
  • The Sony a7SIII is the ISO king as they take it all the way up to 102,400 ISO, which still looks good compared to the ALEXA at 3200 ISO and then they go beyond to 409,600 ISO
  • The Sony a7SIII isnt like a ALEXA Mini LF or VENICE 6k, but you can get very good image quality and crazy low light
  • It’s impressive that you can get a fully capible cinima setup now with a camera like the Sony a7SIII or Fujifilm X-T4 for far less than cameras like the ALEXA Mini LF or VENICE 6k
  • The Sony a7SIII should have anything you would want
  • Everything shot here was internal and the image quality would hold up on the big screen
