Pros

  • Good sharpness at F1, very good at F2.8 and excellent as of F4 on the entire field
  • No glow at F1, very good contrast as of F1
  • Good resistance to flare
  • No distortion
  • Very nice sunstars from F5.6 to F11
  • Very Smooth background blur
  • Very good color rendition
  • Very good rounded Bokeh Balls at F1 in the centre of the frame
  • Excellent build quality
  • Excellent ergonomics with very nice focusing ring
  • Aperture ring that can be set to click or clickless
  • Compact and light for a F1 lens
  • EXIFs transmitted to the body
  • Excellent rendering in video

Average

  • Bokeh balls shape as of F1.4 (no more circular)
  • Optical vignetting causing truncated bokeh balls at the borders (cat’s eye)
  • Level of CA and of LoCA at F1
  • Sharpness only good at F2
  • Focus breathing
  • Field Curvature

  • High Vignetting wide open
