LensTips: Tamron 17-70mm F2.8 Di III A-VC RXD

Lens posted its Tamron 17-70mm F2.8 Di III A-VC RXD review and it sounds like Tamron produced another great affordable zoom lens for E-mount. You can read the full review here or you can check out the excerpts from the review below:

“this lens managed to achieve the most important task: despite a very large and very universal focal range combined with a good, fixed f/2.8 aperture fastness, it guarantees a very good image quality across the frame, no matter what focal lenght you employ. It seems the tested Tamron performs even a tad better than you would expect, and, as such, it fully deserves a very high final assessment it got.”

Pros:

  • very good image quality in the frame centre across the whole focal range,
  • sensible image quality on the edge of the frame,
  • lack of any serious problems with longitudinal chromatic aberration,
  • slight lateral chromatic aberration in the 30-70 mm focal range,
  • good coma correction,
  • moderate astigmatism,
  • silent and very quick autofocus,
  • efficient image stabilization,
  • unique combination of focal range and aperture fastness.

Cons:

  • high vignetting, felt especially keenly on both ends of the focal range,
  • noticeable problems with spherical aberration,
  • performance against bright light should have been better.
