TCSTV released their review of the Sony 50mm f/1.2 GM + W2BT. Below is a summary of their review:
Sony FE 50mm f/1.2 GM
- The technology from Sony’s high-end telephoto lenses is being used to improve shorters lenses and the Sony 50mm f/1.2 GM is very good
- Fast enough to be used for candid photography
- The real-time tracking AF system is great even shooting at 10fps and the pupil is always in focus
- Great bokeh that is very clean and circular with no weird patterns in it
- Not very small but it is lighter than Canon or Nikon lenses coming in at 778g
- Declicable aperture ring
- 72mm filter threat and comes with a greaet hood
- Very nice G Master quality and custom control buttons
- Sony 50mm f/1.2 GM is fully weather-sealed
- Optical performance is super sharp with a great surface coating
- Great AF even on the edges of the frame
- No flare even when the subject is heavily backlit
- Smooth AF transitions for video
- Focus breathing with this lens could limit its usefulness
- Could be her favorite 50mm f/1.2 lens on the market right now since you sacrifice very little
- This is the grown-up nifty 50
Wireless Microphone ECM-W2BT + Lavalier ECM-LV1
- Just plug and play full digital interface with no cables to lose
- A very automatic system so you cant adjust levels in the camera, but you can adjust the attenuator function on the unit
- There is also a mix mode so someone behind the camera can say something
- The Lavalier is in stereo and it is pretty big, but she prefers a smaller mic
- The system takes a 3.5mm mic so you don’t have to use Sony’s Lavalier ECM-LV1
