First Sony a9 Cameras Arrive, Buffer Issues, and More NAB Coverage

It looks like some Sony Photographers are receiving Sony a9 cameras from Sony already along with the new Sony FE 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 GM OSS. They even have retail packaging in the video above, but it is not in English and translation isn’t available at the moment. The brief tracking experiment they do is pretty impressive and the lighting is very poor. Sony a9 news should pick up soon.

Tony and Chelsey also revised their statement about the Sony a9 taking 2-minutes for the buffer to clear. Basically, if you shoot with a single card, then the camera can take full advantage of the UHS-2 card in slot 1. Using a single card the buffer will clear in 36 seconds, but if you use two it could take 1.5-2 minutes to clear because slot 2 is only UHS-1. This sounds like a serious engineering error by Sony. You can watch the full video here, but it’s just a clarification.

There are also a few late NAB videos coming out now, which you can watch below. They don’t really contain any new information, but if you haven’t caught any of these interviews yet they could be informative.
