SIGMA announces SIGMA 24-70mm F2.8 DG DN|Art
SIGMA Corporation is pleased to announce the SIGMA 24-70mm F2.8 DG DN|Art.

The front runner goes beyond your dreams
―Leveraging the top-level “Art zooms” performance to whatever your heart envisions

Best performance can be provided due to a large-aperture zoom. This creed made an extremely high sense of resolution achieved in 14-24mm F2.8 DG DN | Art, the SIGMA’s first Art zoom dedicated for mirrorless cameras. It is also inherited in 24-70mm F2.8 DG DN | Art, the second Art zoom.

By exerting superiority in mirrorless camera-dedicated designs, the lens size and weight are successfully reduced, while achieving uniformity and high resolution from the center to the periphery throughout the zoom range. Furthermore, compatibility with the latest mirrorless camera bodies and functions assists in various photographic environments and meets the high demands of professional or advanced amateur photographers.

Following 14–24mm F2.8 DG DN | Art, 24–70mm F2.8 DG DN | Art has appeared as the flagship of the new-generation Art zoom and ultimate large-aperture standard zoom lens.

About Product Name: “DG” is given to lenses designed to deliver the ultimate in performance on cameras with full-frame sensors, and “DN” to lenses designed to be optimized for mirrorless cameras with short flange focal length.

Lok: Sony a6100 Hands-on Review

The Sony a6100 closes the gap between Sony’s entry-level mirrorless APS-C cameras and their higher-end cameras like the a6600 that was just announced alongside it. Many have been impressed by the value it offers and Lok is no different. Below are excerpts from his review:

  • Can’t talk about how great real-time tracking is too much
  • Real-time tracking makes Sony cameras feel like a new system if you haven’t used it before
  • In fact, real-tracking changes the way you shoot
  • When a camera has such great AF-C you rarely have to worry about missing your subject
  • Lok loves the automation
  • a6100 is cheaper than the a6600 because of lack of IBIS
  • Obviously very plastic body
  • The a6100 should survive all but the most extreme conditions
  • a6100 dials are less clicky than other Sony cameras
  • Less customizable buttons
  • The record button is particularly bad on the a6100
  • No picture profiles for video
  • No electronic leveling display
  • No eye detect in video but it has face detect
  • PDAF is very good even without eye-tracking
  • Better grip than in the past
  • It does have a headphone jack to monitor
  • Strong rolling shutter effect
  • Stabilized lenses on the a6100 are almost as good as IBIS in the a6600
  • The a6100 and a6600 are very similar so unless you want IBIS or can’t stand a very plastic body get the a6100

DPRTV: Sony a7RIV Review – The Best Full-Frame Camera on The Market

Sony a7R cameras have become the reasonably priced resolution monsters of the industry since the camera launched, with a continuously improving feature set that now rivals even the Sony a9. Below is a summary of what the above video covers:

  • 1/250th eye detect
  • You can trust the camera to AF correctly on the best point available
  • Had trouble with eye detect in a high contrast lighting situation, but still grabbed the face correctly
  • Minimal blackout
  • Can do 10fps at lower bit rate with minimal compression and 6fps with full bit rate for 30 shots
  • Recovers 5 stops without a problem
  • The EVF is good enough that you just get used to it
  • The photographer in the video doesn’t like the feel of the camera but likes the results
  • The guest says that if Sony had the a7RIV in a full-size body he would buy it today and dump DSLR
  • Can get 240MP with 16 shots, but it can’t handle anything moving and must be post-processed
  • a7RIV does low light well
  • +4EV shadow boost without an issue and has similar noise to shooting 6400ISO in the first place
  • Super 35mm has the best video image quality, but the crop can be an issue for wide video
  • This camera can be used for almost anything including sports/wildlife, but the fps might be a little low for the application
  • Would be great to get smaller RAW files
  • From a technical perspective this is the best full-frame camera on the market
