HVL-F60RM2 and HVL-F46RM Firmware Updates Add Sony a9III Support

HVL-F60RM2 main unit software update Ver. 2.00
- Now supports global shutter synchronization shooting in all shutter areas.
By using a camera equipped with a global shutter image sensor, you can synchronize the flash and take pictures over the entire shutter speed range of the camera. This enables more efficient flash exposure than traditional high-speed synchro photography (HSS).
- Added flash charge priority setting. Setting [CHG PRIORITY] to [STABLE] takes longer to charge than when setting it to [NORMAL], but allows for more stable light emission.

MAP Camera December Sales Rankings – Sony Still Dominating

Map Camera released their sales ranking for December and Fujifilm is back in the running, but Sony hung 4 of the top 10 spots. You can see the rankings below along with Map Camera’s translated takes.
Map Camera’s Take
“SONY α7C II” ranked first for two consecutive months. Just like last time, it is far behind second place and below, which shows how popular it is.
In the “Map Camera 2023 Sales Ranking”, it was ranked 6th after α7IV. It was released on October 13th, so it reached this ranking in just two months.
Last time, I introduced it as likely to become Sony’s standard model to replace the α7IV. I’m actually curious as to how it will be separated from the α7IV.
When we checked with store staff, it seems that those who choose the α7C II value its compactness most.
In addition, considering the ongoing cashback campaign (until January 10, 2024), the price is lower, but the AF performance has been greatly improved by the AI processing unit, which is not present in the α7IV. It is said that it is.On the other hand, those who choose the α7IV seem to place emphasis on good body balance when wearing a larger lens.
The vertical grip is also a major factor in choosing this lens for those who frequently use large-diameter lenses or telephoto lenses. In 7th place is “SONY α7RV”. Sony also has four other models in the ranking this time, including the 9th place “α7IV” and the 10th place “α6700.” We are proud of our stable strength as a manufacturer.
First of all, α7RV. The cashback of 50,000 yen even for the body alone is a big attraction.
It seems that there were many people who took advantage of the bonus and paid a slightly larger amount and later decided to purchase the product with the money back.On the other hand, I didn’t feel the cashback campaign had much of an effect on the α7IV.
This time, the number of sales exceeded that of used items.
This is probably due to the fact that even with cash back, the price difference between used and second-hand items has widened, and the fact that used items come with great deals at year-end events are likely to be the main reasons.
The campaign ended on January 10, 2024, so we will likely see more and more people purchasing used items in the future.Sony has a strong image of full-size machines, and the α6700 has arrived as a much-anticipated APS-C machine.
However, things seem to be slowing down at this point.
In order to maintain the ranking in 2024, we need one more push.
