Sony a9III PDR Compared to a9II, a9III, and a7RV

Photons to photos published the PDR results of the Sony a9III and the camera does a good job of hanging with the Sony a9II, a9II, and even the a7RV at high ISO. The global shutter takes a toll on dynamic range, but the cost appears to be a quite reasonable trade-off for the extreme performance of the Sony a9III. New Sony FE 24-70mm f/2 GM Coming

Sony is rumored to announce a Sony FE 24-70mm f/2 GM soon. Some of the believed specs are below:

  • Weight: 1,145 grams
  • Compact design with extensive use of lightweight materials
  • No stabilization and optical parfocus, making it unsuitable for video users
  • Excellent control of dark corners and dispersion, high resolution in the center of the frame, undercorrected spherical aberration, and an overall image that is soft and full of detail

Canon currently has a 28-70mm f/2.0 lens that sells for over $3,099, so the Sony FE 24-70mm f/2 GM lens will probably be more than $3,000.

Viltrox Will Announce LAB Lenses Like The Viltrox 135mm f/1.8 LAB and Possibly More at NAB 2024

Viltrox released a teaser for NAB 2024 about LAB lenses being announced, which could just be the Viltrox AF 135mm f/1.8 LAB that we have known about for a while, but now we have Viltrox’s 2024 roadmap which includes:

  • Viltrox AF 35mm f/1.2 LAB
  • Viltrox AF 50mm f/1.2 LAB
  • Viltrox AF 85mm f/1.2 LAB
  • Viltrox AF 135mm f/1.8 LAB
  • Viltrox AF 35mm f/1.4 FF Pro
  • Viltrox AF 50mm f/1.4 FF Pro
  • Viltrox AF 85mm f/1.4 FF Pro
  • Unknown AF f/1.2 APS-C lens

Viltrox is also expected to announce the Viltrox 56mm f/1.7 and Viltrox 40mm f/2.5 in April so Viltrox could announce them around this event too.

Sigma 50mm f/1.2 DG DN | Art Coming Soon and Sigma Announcement Event on 3/26 at 8am EST

The Sigma 50mm f/1.2 will be coming soon for Sony E and Leica L mount. The lens will have 13 aperture blades with a 77mm filter size and should be more affordable than the Sony FE 50mm f/1.2 GM.


There is also a Sigma announcement event coming up on 3/26 at 8 am EST when the Sigma 50mm f/1.2 DG DN | Art might be announced.

Viltrox 56mm f/1.7 and Viltrox 40mm f/2.5 Coming In April

According to Weibo the Viltrox 56mm f/1.7 and Viltrox 40mm f/ 2.5 will come next month in April and both lenses will be priced at around 899 yuan or $124.87 USD. Both lenses will be very affordable and will likely be worth picking up.

VILTROX’s new AF56mm F1.7 APS-C and AF40mm F2.5 full-frame lenses may be released next month.

AF56mm F1.7 debuts with Fuji X mount, equipped with Fuji X/Sony E/Nikon Z mount, and is expected to sell for only 899.

AF40mm F2.5 debuts with Nikon Z mount and is available with Nikon Z/Fuji X/Sony E mount. It is expected to sell for only 899.
