Sony a7R cameras have become the reasonably priced resolution monsters of the industry since the camera launched, with a continuously improving feature set that now rivals even the Sony a9. Below is a summary of what the above video covers:
- 1/250th eye detect
- You can trust the camera to AF correctly on the best point available
- Had trouble with eye detect in a high contrast lighting situation, but still grabbed the face correctly
- Minimal blackout
- Can do 10fps at lower bit rate with minimal compression and 6fps with full bit rate for 30 shots
- Recovers 5 stops without a problem
- The EVF is good enough that you just get used to it
- The photographer in the video doesn’t like the feel of the camera but likes the results
- The guest says that if Sony had the a7RIV in a full-size body he would buy it today and dump DSLR
- Can get 240MP with 16 shots, but it can’t handle anything moving and must be post-processed
- a7RIV does low light well
- +4EV shadow boost without an issue and has similar noise to shooting 6400ISO in the first place
- Super 35mm has the best video image quality, but the crop can be an issue for wide video
- This camera can be used for almost anything including sports/wildlife, but the fps might be a little low for the application
- Would be great to get smaller RAW files
- From a technical perspective this is the best full-frame camera on the market
