Shoot a Sony a7RIV in Space With StarSphere

Sony launched a Sony a7RIV into space aboard a Space X rocked called the Sony StarSphere, and they showed it off at CES this year. They also have a YouTube channel you can check out and a website with more info. This looks like an excellent opportunity to get more photographers into astrophotography, and I can’t wait to see what they create. The service will be available for two years in the US and in Japan, after which the unit will be deorbited because that is all the water propellant they have onboard. The service should be available soon, and it looks like you can preregister with a Sony account.

STAR SPHERE: A Journey into the Experience of Discovering Space Perspectives
The Space Photography Experience Service will provide a rich photographic experience using a satellite camera following the satellite’s orbit. When the satellite reaches the point at which you pre-designated the date and time, it will capture the scene, and you will receive your very own photo at a later date and time.
