Gordon Laing from Camera Labs posted his six sleeper lenses for Sony that you should consider video and he has some interesting pics, but I do not think you can consider the 24mm lenses as being overlooked.
- Best value
- General-purpose lens
- You can still get bokeh at f/4
- Reaches further than most and it has a good price point
- If you desire an f/2.8 zoom kit to cover everything then Sony has the holy trinity on sale atm
- Covers ultra-wide to wide
- Good close up performance
- The second lens in the holy trinity of lenses
- This lens is a workhorse
- Works wide to telephoto
- Great general-purpose zoom with really high-quality results
- Completing the trinity zoom
- One of Sony’s first GM zooms
- Covers your telephoto zoom
- Mark 1 is still very good and you do not need mark 2
- Gordons favorite focal length
- Great for drama with minimal distortion
- Good for smaller bodies
- Sharp
- Has a focus hold button and de-clickable aperture ring
- A modern classic
- Best performer in its class
- Not large or heavy
- Sharp near and far even wide open
- Faster aperture than the 24mm G
- If you love 24mm you will love this lens
