Zeiss Loxia 21mm f/2.8: B&H Photo / Amazon / Adorama

The Sony FE 20mm f/1.8 G is an incredible value and now Jim Kasson has started his testing to see how well it does exactly. So far the lens is performing well, but more expensive Sony lenses like the Loxia 21mm are doing better wide open for twice the price.

The Last Word – Sony 20/1.8 vs Loxia 21/2.8 — Siemens Star

The Loxia is sharper, especially for radial variations. You probably wouldn’t see this difference in noraml photography.

The Last Word – Sony 20mm f/1.8 G initial tests

The Sony 20/1.8 is a good example of what Sony E-mount lenses have grown up to be. Nice size. Balances well on the camera. An aperture ring right on the lens, just where God intended it to be. An AF/MF switch, and a programmable button. All good stuff……f/5.6 is the best aperture in the corner. You can see the falloff decreasing as I stopped down. You can also see a color shift. I’m not sure what that’s about.
