Here is how the leaked Sony FE 200-600mm 5.6-6.3mm G OSS, that we found first, compares to the Sony FE 100-400mm F4.5–5.6 GM OSS Super Telephoto Zoom and Sony FE 400mm f/2.8 GM OSS. The size is only an approximation because the angle isn’t perfect, but the base of the mount of the lens has been matched to the 400mm and 100-400mm mount. I used camerasize to for an accurate starting point.
I also decided to compare it to two close competitors that you can get for Nikon or Canon cameras the Tamron SP 150-600mm f/5-6.3 Di VC USD G2 and Sigma 60-600mm f/4.5-6.3 DG OS HSM Sports, which work on Sony cameras with a Sigma MC-11. I would have included the Sigma 150-600mm f/5-6.3 DG OS HSM Contemporary in this comparison, but it is not on camerasize’s website at this time. The Sigma 150-600mm is actually discounted and can be had for around $1,000, which might be a much better value than waiting for Sony.
Judging by the compeitition the Sony FE 200-600mm 5.6-6.3mm G OSS should fall between $1,300 and $2,000. It’s also interesting the Tamron and Sigma both seem to have more compact designs than Sony considering both lenses excide Sony’s 200-600mm focal length.
