DPReviewTV made a comparison buyers guide video for the Fujifilm X-T30 and Sony a6400 but didn’t come to a firm final conclusion. Below is the break down of their opinion:
Price:
Almost exactly the same
Handling:
Dimensions Sony is shorter from top to bottom, but the Fujifilm is thinner
It’s all about hump and bump
Fujifilm manual controls are superior
Sony manual control are mushy
Fujifilm joystick is preferable
Both have my menus
Sony has more customizable button
Sony weather sealed
Autofocus:
X-T30 is a huge improvement, but face/eye tracking only works well up close
a6400 has the best AF of any APS-C camera they have tried
Video AF is great on both, but the sony edges out the Fujifilm
Color:
Sony has improved their color, but Fujifilm wins with great color, film simulation, RAW processing in the camera
Can always fix Sony colors in RAW editor
Technology:
Fujifilm has the newer faster sensor
Sony has better high ISO
Lens Selection:
Fujifilm wins hands down because they have an extensive lineup of high quality reasonably priced glass
Sony has ignored APS-C
Sigma makes some nice prime lenses for Sony
Displays:
Fujifilm has higher resolution LCD but touchscreen controls aren’t great
Sony has a fully articulating screen and a higher magnification EVF
Video:
Fujifilm 10min 4k and 15min 1080p recording
Sony unlimited 4k record time
Both support 4k 30p
Sony has a 3.5 mm mic jack
Fuji has a 2.5 mm mic jack
Fujifilm USB monitoring ability
Sony a6400 4k has crop and has rolling shutter
Fujifilm full sensor readout for 4k and little rolling shutter
Fujifilm has higher data record rate and you can get 10-bit output via HDMI
Conclusion:
Looks like Fujifilm X-T30 is the winner, but both are very close
Fujifilm’s biggest advantage is that it has superior color
Sony’s biggest advantage is tack sharp images
