Sirui 24mm f/2.8 Anamorphic 1.33x Review

The Sirui 24mm f/2.8 Anamorphic 1.33x has been available for a bit now, but not many have reviewed it fully. I personally really love the look of anamorphic for video and photos, but the aspect ratio can be difficult to adjust to for photography. There really is nothing quite like an anamorphic lens and sony alpha blog seems very impressed with this affordable anamorphic lens’s results. Below you can read some of the conclusions or you can read the full review at Sony Alpha Blog.

Results are very good and really give a cinematic look to your videos, that you can’t achieve by just cropping top and bottom of a traditional lens

Highly recommended !

Pros

  • Cinematic look
  • Very good to excellent sharpness
  • Very good build quality
  • Typical anamorphic flare
  • Reasonable price (1000 euros)
  • Very little focus breathing

Average

  • Limited Bokeh possibility and background blur due to the high min focusing distance of 60cm and f2.8 apeerture for a 24mm lens
  • Moderate vignetting
  • Good Color rendition but not neutral

Cons

  • Strong distorsion
  • Minimum focusing distance of 60cm
