Sony FE 85mm f/1.4 GM II: B&H Photo / Amazon / Adorama

Lenstips published its full Sony FE 85 mm f/1.4 GM II review and it is a solid performer with price being its only weakness since vignetting can be desirable for portraiture. You can read in full here or check out the excerpt below:

Pros:

  • solid and weather-sealed mechanical construction,
  • brilliant image quality in the frame centre up from the maximum relative aperture,
  • very good image quality on the edge of the APS-C sensor,
  • good image quality on the edge of full frame,
  • very good correction of longitudinal chromatic aberration,
  • negligible lateral chromatic aberration,
  • practically zero distortion,
  • low astigmatism,
  • out-of-focus areas pleasing to the eye,
  • slight vignetting on the APS-C sensor,
  • moderate breathing,
  • fast, silent, and accurate autofocus.

Cons:

  • significant vignetting on full frame.
