DPRTV published their review of the Tamron 50-400mm f/4.5-6.3 Di III VC VXD, and Tamron has another winner on its hands. Below is a summary of the review above:
- Tamron 50-400mm has a little bit of bulk at 1150g/2.5bs or half a noct
- The lens is well-balanced and rugged
- Manual focus ring is a little loose
- Weather resistance
- Customizable button and vibration control
- 67mm filter diameter
- Option for a tripod collar
- Very unique lens that covers normal to telephoto
- The only similar lens was from sigma the 50-500mm that was very big and heavy unlike Tamron’s 50-400mm lens
- There are some compromises, like a slow aperture range
- This lens is great if you do not mind pushing up the ISO
- Very well-controlled flare
- This lens even does macro well, and the close working distance is within the hood at 50mm with a lot more working distance at 400mm
- Some cats eyes in the corners until you stop down to f/8
- Bokeh transition is energetic but smooth
- Very sharp across the frame at 50mm without much improvement from stopping down
- Very sharp across the frame at 400mm without much improvement from stopping down
- This lens is very unique and well designed
