Sony Compact 26mm F2.8 and 27mm F2.8 Patents Found
Sony recently filed some patents for what appear to not be very exciting lens designs. I wasn’t even going to share them until I noticed that asobinet pointed out that these designs are very compact for full-frame lenses so it looks like Sony is making some additional advancements in their designs to bring lens sizes down further. Lets hope these design advancements are applied to more interesting f/1.4, f/1.2, and f/1.0 lenses in the future.

[ Background Art]
In recent years, imaging devices such as digital cameras have become larger and have higher image quality, and with this, the imaging lenses used in these imaging devices are also required to have high performance, and various aberrations There is a growing need for strict corrections. On the other hand, as mirrorless cameras and the like are becoming increasingly popular with short flange backs, there is also a demand for smaller optical systems. In response to these demands, various imaging optical systems using aspheric lenses have been proposed (see, for example, Patent Documents 1 and 2).
- [0004]
In an imaging optical system, when trying to realize an optical system that has high resolution all the way to the periphery while realizing miniaturization and weight reduction, problems such as astigmatism, field curvature, coma aberration, and sagittal coma flare occur. tends to get worse.
- [0005]
An imaging optical system that can satisfactorily correct various aberrations while realizing miniaturization and weight reduction by appropriately using an aspheric lens, and an imaging system equipped with such an imaging optical system. It is desirable to provide equipment.
