A standard zoom lens generally refers to a zoom lens whose zoom range includes a focal length of 50 mm in terms of 35 mm format.

However, in the zoom lens disclosed in Patent Document 1, the second lens group responsible for the main zooming action is used as the focus group. The second lens group has a large number of lenses and is heavy compared to other lens groups. Therefore, it is difficult to perform quick autofocus. In addition, since the second lens group is heavy, the driving mechanism for moving the second lens group during focusing also becomes large. Therefore, there is a problem that the entire lens unit including the lens barrel is increased in size and weight.
