DIY: Sitina 1 Open Source Full-Frame Mirrorless Camera Update
We first covered the Sitina 1 open source Full-Frame mirrorless camera project here last year. The files for the project can be found here on gitlab and the creator released a video about updates to the project which you can view below.
Changes include
- Switching the 3.7V cells in parallel to serial providing 7.4V
- Video output now requires less energy
- Line skipping was added to the LCD to speed up the refresh rate of the EVF
- He tried to increase the frame rate with 3.7V but it required too much power which is why the 7.4V was necessary
- Live view frame rate can now reach 14FPS up from 3FPS
- It sounds like he is trying to have selective line skipping so that no detail is lost related to the primary subject
- Working on image quality issues like random noise and discontinuity in the center of the image and diagonal stripes that are caused by SD card noise
- The left and right half of the image are handled by separate chips which can cause the discontinuity problem
- Image quality continues to improve
