DPRTV: Sony a7RV Review – A Great Stills Camera Gets Better
DPRTV just posted its review, which you can watch above or read the summary of below:
- Better experience than with other cameras
- Updated EVF and IBIS are great
- Controls are useable
- Customizable color for focus box
- Great articulating screen that can do everything
- Most of the updated land well
- Great AF that makes the camera a joy to use
- Sony a7RIV is also a great option, but the updates make the a7RV a worthy upgrade
- The image quality is great, just like the a7RIV
- The sensor read-out speed could be better
- Multishop mode motion correction is great to have to freeze moving subjects
- Dust is still an issue on Sony bodies
- You can now set the shutter to close when the lens is off, which helps with the dust
- AF is excellent even for sports and action photography
- Human recognition works well to keep on the subject you intended
- Sony AF just keeps getting better, even with multiple subjects
- Sony really only competes with Sony at this point since no one is close
- Lots of video options that are useful, but the rolling shutter is very bad, so there is no idea record mode
- Subsampled modes are the only somewhat acceptable way to deal with rolling shutter
- Best video AF from a Sony camera so far, but not perfect
- Video is compromised compared to other cameras
- It’s a shame the video ends with all the negatives about video, because this is a great stills camera
