It seems that everyone agrees… Sony far exceeded everyone’s expectations for an entry level full frame camera for $2,000. Canon and Nikon should be very worried about the Sony a7III because on the specs alone Sony’s entry-level camera can beat almost every single full frame camera in their lineups, but Sony still has a user experience problem. I have been covering the various live streams out there all night and they are full of Photographers hanging up their Canon 5D Mark IV’s and Nikon D750’s, for Sony’s new a9 light.
The Sony a7III is going to disrupt the photography market the way the Sony a7RII did when it was released causing everyone else to play catch up and how are Canon and Nikon going to release their first full frame cameras anywhere near this level of performance? 2018 might be a bloodbath and it could even reach down to high-end APS-C cameras like the Fujifilm X-H1 if you don’t fully understand or need the video advantages it offers. The release of the Sony a7III might even speed up the release of cameras like the Fujifilm X-T3. 2018 is definitely going to be the best year yet for photographers and we are just getting started. Stay tuned and check out the live blog from yesterday for more coverage.
