Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 Di III RXD FE Compared to The Sony Zeiss 24-70mm f/4 Vario-Tessar T FE OSS

I received my Tamron from B&H Photo yesterday and it is impressively small for the specs. I included a photo showing how it compares to the Sony Zeiss 24-70mm f/4 Vario-Tessar T FE OSS, below, which is currently one of Sony’s most compact zoom lenses and it isn’t much bigger considering it’s a f/2.8 lens. The Zeiss is a little lighter at 426g, but the Tamron isn’t much heavier at 550g, which is much lighter than the Sony FE 24-70mm f/2.8 GM at 886g.

I might get my hands on one soon for a comparison, but the Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 Di III RXD FE is a far superior lens to the Sony Zeiss 24-70mm f/4 Vario-Tessar T FE OSS so far and I will likely sell it when I get a wide Sony zoom. Follow me on Instagram and 500px for some of my first photos with this difficult to find lens.
