Sony a9 Capture One Tethering Guide

Sony put together a comprehensive Capture One tethering guide for the Sony a9. Below is a condensed version.

  1. Use a USB 2.0 cable with Micro B type connection
  2. In Capture One’s preferences in the Capture tab, make sure Sony is checked as a Provider.
  3. Start a Capture One Session File>New Session
  4. Choose a new location for your session
  5. The workflow is: Capture to the Capture Folder, Move selected images / picked images to the Selects folder, Process those Selects to the Output folder, Any discarded images go in the Trash folder
  6. In the Capture tool tab that comes up you can then select how you want your photos name.
  7. You can also add a location and presets in the capture tool tab before starting
  8. Capture One won’t read your lens before a capture is made
  9. If you want to use live view click the video camera button and to capture an image click the large gray button to the right of it to begin or us CMD-K (Mac) / CTRL-K (WIN).
  10. You can’t zoom in the application for focusing, but you can do it on camera and it will shot up in live view.
