Sony a9 Update

The excitement surrounding the Sony a9 has started to die down a little and now photographers are thinking a little more logistically about how this camera will enter the market. For professionals that buy their own gear there are many ways to make switching easier. Especially if you currently shoot Canon, but if you use company gear the barrier is much higher. Sony will have to find a way to convince companies to replace their body and lens collections together or make it easier for them to adapt their massive glass collections, until they are ready to be replaced with Sony glass.

Currently the MetaBones T Smart Adapter Mark IV and Sigma MC-11 are the best bet for Canon switchers looking to utilize their Canon EF mount glass, but maybe it’s time for Sony to create an adapter. This would greatly speed up the adoption of Sony cameras in the world of sport photography. That way they don’t have to take on the task of replacing too many quasi specialty lenses at once.

The new Sony grip extension looks useful, but why didn’t they add a tripod mount on the bottom?

Black out being gone is kind of a big deal, but many modern high end mirrorless cameras have almost no blackout today. The Sony a9 is just where everything is heading.

Not the best AF video, but a clear look at how the touch screen will work.
